Goole Fitmums & Friends will offer run distances of one to six miles at its weekly Monday evening club sessions, with runners choosing the distance that feels right for them. Every run is supported by trained volunteer run leaders who help all members to achieve their goals whatever their ability or experience. Chief Officer and founder of Fitmums & Friends, Sam Barlow BEM explains: “At Fitmums & Friends, we are passionate about supporting everyone to become more active, from complete beginners to more regular runners. When we run we use a simple support system known as “shepherding” which enables runners of all abilities to exercise together – it supports those who need to go at a slower pace and still provides a challenge for those who are more capable. As a result, everyone is fit enough for our sessions.”

Club co-ordinators, Andy and Wendy continue: "If you're thinking about starting or improving your running, then do come along and give the group a try. You don’t have to be a mum, nor do you have to be fit – the ‘& Friends’ is just as important! Everyone really does fit at Fitmums & Friends, so please join us if you would like to get fit, make friends and have fun!"

Fitmums & Friends would like to acknowledge the support of both Humberside Fire & Rescue Service, which is providing the club’s venue in Goole, and East Riding of Yorkshire Council, which has helped set up the Goole club. Laurie Fergusson, Public Health Lead at ERYC explains: “We are really excited about the launch of the new Fitmums & Friends group in Goole. Fitmums & Friends provides support and motivation to our East Riding residents encouraging them to be more physically and socially active and to improve their health and wellbeing.”

Fitmums & Friends is open to men and women aged 16+, with potential members able to attend three sessions before joining a club at £36 per year. To find out more, please visit www.fitmums.org.uk or search for Goole Fitmums & Friends on Facebook.
