Posted 6th July 2018

Fitmums & Friends is excited to announce that it's much-loved Race Support Team are taking on a new identity. It's new team will be called the “pink & blues” and will continue to encourage and support participants through the last few, tough miles of an event.

Fitmums & Friends’ pink & blues offer support to participants towards the end of an event. This might take the form of a friendly face, cheer or hug, jelly babies, words of encouragement or running alongside the participant towards, but importantly not over, the finish line – the glory of crossing the line is for the participant. The pink & blues team is made up of volunteer Fitmums & Friends members, men and women, who love to support participants at the tough end of an event.

The pink & blues will make their first appearance at Race for Life in Hull this Sunday. They have also been asked to support the Great Grimsby 10k later this month, the Gilberdyke 10 Mile in August, as well as the ABP Coastal Half and the Hull Marathon in September.

Lucas Meagor, Race Director of the Hull Marathon, explains: “Since Fitmums & Friends joined Hull Marathon with this support at mile 25, we've had fantastic feedback from our runners about the difference they make on the route. We're delighted to have the pink & blues see them through once more in 2018.”

Chief Officer of Fitmums & Friends, Sam Barlow BEM, elaborates: “We know from previous event feedback that our volunteers really have helped many to keep going and reach the finish line. Runners tell us afterwards that they wouldn’t have finished without our support. We’re honoured to play a small part in helping them to achieve their goals.”

Look out for the pink & blues at Race for Life Hull this Sunday, 8 July and at the other events this summer. For more information about the events listed, please visit our events page.
