On Mother's Day, run or walk together to celebrate all the women who make a difference in your life.

Where: Humber Bridge Country Park (Ferriby Rd, Hessle, HU13 0HB)
How far: 4 miles
Who for: Everyone!
How much: £8 per person (free for under 15 years, must be accompanied by an adult and booked on to the event)
Bonus: entry includes a headscarf (of course!)
New for 2024, the Headscarf Hustle is a fun and friendly 4-mile run/walk which, this year, will take place across the Humber Bridge.
The event is open to everyone – adults and children. And all abilities – you are welcome to run, walk or wheel the four miles. Take part solo or bring your family or friends/colleagues. (But no dogs, please.) We do recommend that any child 'running' the event follows the UK Athletics guidance about age-suitable distances. Younger children in buggies are welcome too. Note that the event will not be timed, but if you would like to record your time, you certainly can.
As well as being a great opportunity to get active, the event will also be a fundraiser. A portion of your £8 entry fee will be donated to Headscarf Pride's campaign for a statue in memory of Hull's Headscarf Revolutionaries – the four local women who campaigned to improve safety at sea after the Triple Trawler Disaster of 1968 and saved countless lives as a result.
At the 4-mile Headscarf Hustle, walk or run a mile for each of these four inspirational women! And on Mother's Day too (and just days after International Women’s Day) – the perfect time to celebrate the Headscarf Revolutionaries and every woman who makes a difference in your life.
The Headscarf Hustle is being organised by Fitmums & Friends and Headscarf Pride. Explore this website to learn more about Fitmums & Friends. Find out more about Headscarf Pride on social media: Facebook, Instagram, X and LinkedIn.

UPDATE:
The inaugural Headscarf Hustle was a huge success! Around 200 people, most wearing pink headscarves as a tribute to the four pioneering Headscarf Revolutionaries, braved some wild weather to take part, spend time with family and friends, and be active. The event was supported by local MPs Emma Hardy and Diana Johnson, Cllr. Tracey Henry, BBC presenter Peter Levy, and many local businesses and organisations. It was hosted entirely by volunteers. John commented: “I had an absolute hoot of a time. The whole event was wonderfully friendly. I thought there was an abundance of joy and excitement. It was nice to see a good turnout from all age groups”. Organiser Sam Barlow added: “It was a truly inclusive event with so much support along the route creating a really friendly atmosphere”.
