Maternal Mental Health Week - Anastacia's story

Posted 3rd May 2018

Anastacia has found enormous benefits in using physical activity to combat the debilitating symptoms of post natal dperession, here she tells her story...

Well my journey with Fitmums & Friends started in 2011 when my daughter came early by 12 weeks! I was stuck in the hospital bubble for 2 months, going back a forth to see her and hoping every day was going to be good news.  On 27th November we got to bring her home but it didn't last more than the afternoon as we were back in NICU after she stopped breathing. Once we got her home on the 10th December it was hard to adjust to normal life at home again, no comfort of nurses or doctors at your beck and call and it was scary. Having to look after my 17 month old son as well, i struggled with day to day tasks. I was diagnosed with post natal depression and went to House of Light to talk but it only helped so much.

Then I found out about buggy burn and I never looked back. I have followed Fitmums from Cottingham, Chants ave and now East Park and it makes me feel great. I now have number 3 and I am starting my Fitmums journey again as I feel low but all the support from Fitmums and the ladies makes me feel like I am not losing this battle. Thank you
