SEPTEMBER FITNESS CHALLENGE

Posted 30th August 2023

We’re bringing back the Fitmums & Friends Fitness Challenge! This time for September – get active again after the summer hols!

Devised by John Walker, coach at East Hull Fitmums & Friends, the Fitmums & Friends Fitness Challenge challenges you to complete a short workout every day of the month. Each day offers a different challenge – some days are about strength and conditioning, others are fitness-focused. Completing them all will have you feeling fitter and stronger by the end of the month!

It’s super-easy to take part:

1) Check the programme to see what the day’s workout is:

calendar of workout for every day in September

2) Watch the videos to learn how to do the exercises and get the most out of them. The videos will be posted every day on YouTube and on Facebook.

3) Do the workout – whenever it fits into your day, on your own or with your family, friends or club mates.

4) Feel fitter and stronger (and pleased with yourself!)

If you’re wondering why you should take on the challenge, strength and conditioning (S&C) exercises like these support your running, fitness/nordic walking, cycling and other physical activities. By strengthening muscles, they make everyone more resilient and efficient in their chosen activity and less likely to suffer injuries.

Remember to make sure you are properly warmed up before starting any of the workouts, and of course don’t forget to stretch afterwards. You can adapt the workouts to take into account any injuries or weaknesses you may have – if you are not sure what substitutions to make, just ask one of our coaching team.

We hope you’ll join us in doing the Fitmums & Friends September Fitness Challenge. We’d love to know how you’re getting on, so please share feedback, photos or videos to Facebook or your club’s social group (or email them to comms@fitmums.org.uk if you prefer).

Good luck!
