Virtual Activity Sessions - Even more

You know we are passionate about helping people to be more active, and happier and healthier as a result – and nothing’s changed under lockdown. Here is a list of all the ways Fitmums and Friends is currently encouraging people to stay active, to improve both your physical and mental health. We hope these will go some way to supporting you and your families through this difficult time.  If you struggle to access Zoom or facebook live we can share recorded sessions with you - so please email and let us know you would like to access in this way.  

Virtual sessions

Every week, we are hosting virtual Fitmums and Friends sessions, including strength and conditioning (S&C), pilates, yoga and a session especially for children. These can be done in the comfort of your home – with your family too.  Each session combines the workout and a chance to connect with other members. Please note that if you don’t like the idea of appearing on screen, you can choose to disable the video feature; you will still be able to see and hear the coach, but only your name will appear on the screen instead of your picture.

The sessions on offer are:

Monday 10.30am: Pilates with Coach Claire

Tuesday 10.30am: S&C with Coach Neil

Wednesday 6.30pm: Pilates with Coach Claire

Thursday 6.30pm: S&C with Coach Neil

Friday 11am: Yoga with Emma

Saturday 10am: Junior session with Coach Neil (open to junior members and children of members)

Sunday 4.30pm: Yoga with Emma

The sessions, open to all current members, are led by trained and qualified coaches and instructors and are delivered via Zoom.  The access links and passwords required to access the sessions change each week and it is therefore necessary to either join a closed facebook group to see the links posted up weekly - or please email admin@fitmums.org.uk to ask to receive the weekly list by email.  You can join the “Virtual Sessions” Facebook group here


Facebook Live 

These 30-minute sessions are available via Facebook Live which means you can either take part live or replay at any time afterwards to suit you. These sesssions are particularly scheduled to help people access around possible working hours to enable live access - but if not we hope the replay option will help. To access these sessions you just need to be a current member and have access to the Fitmums and Friends Virtual Sessions page which is where these sessions will take place.

Pre and post natal yoga sessions

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we are hosting virtual yoga sessions for pregnant ladies and new Mums. These sessions will be led by our lovely Fitmums and Friends instructor, Emma, and are open to non-members as well as members. The sessions will be on Facebook Live, which means that if you can’t tune in at 2pm, you can do the session at another time to suit you. We really hope these sessions will help pregnant ladies and new Mums who are confined at a time when they need most support.

Work from Home Wellness sessions

With more people working from home, we sense a need to help people look after themselves whilst potentially working in a "set up" not quite as good as that of the usual workplace. It's possible that some people may now be feeling the effects of an incorrect screen/desk height and position. You may even begin to feel an element of neck, back, shoulder, sciatica discomfort as a result. 

So why not try our "Work from Home Wellness" session - each Wednesday at 8.30am. It takes place on Facebook Live and therefore enables you to pick the session up whenever is convenient for you. It is a 10 minute session only, intended to fit easily into your working day. Try and repeat the session a few times a day and in this way help to curb the aches/pains/discomfort that you may be feeling, or keep problems at bay. 

Our Fitmums and Friends Instructors Emma and Neil will be taking it in turns to take you through these 10 minute wellness sessions. They will change each Wednesday, so keep the sessions up throughout the week, then tune in each Wednesday to see the next one.

Caution

As ever, please work at your own level during these sessions – the coaches will give different options to work at, so please pick what is right for you. Unlike face-to-face sessions, coaches cannot check personal health status. We therefore recommend that these sessions are suitable for people in good physical condition who feel able to participate in the sessions. We strongly recommend that you consult with a health professional before beginning any exercise programme if this is a new activity.
