Virtual Session Review

Posted 26th May 2021

When our Prime Minister announced a total lockdown in March 2020 we were so sad to have to cancel all club sessions, however we still wanted to support our members from afar and had to scramble pretty quickly to pull a plan together.

In a few short weeks we had pulled together a Virtual Programme for our members that we are so proud of, with various sessions to choose from we hoped that there was something for everyone and that these sessions would not only support out members to keep active but also enable them to keep in touch with their Fitmums and Friends family and enable them to still have contact with people, albeit virtually. Lockdown was very isolating for many people and we hope in some small way, that we helped alleviate some of that lonliness.

We held over 300 sessions over the lockdown and these consisted of Pilates, Yoga, Strength and Conditioning and also some fantastically fun junior/family sessions.

There were attended by a large number of both our existing members but also new virtual only members. The number of attendances at each type of session were:

1239 attendances at the Pilates classes

1491 attendances at the Yoga sessions

1191 attendances at the Strength & Conditioning/Cardio sessions

360 attendances at the junior/family sessions.

All sessions could be viewed at a later time, and in some cases live streamed on Facebook, so attendance is very likely to be much higher as these numbers are based on Zoom registrations.

Additionally, there was often multiple people/family members etc in homes who took part in the sessions too meaning that in some cases the whole family was taking part in activity sessions.

We were so proud to continually receive fantastic feedback at the end of the sessions, some of those we have featured below:

  • Some of the ideas many of your leaders have come up with to keep people moving and motivated in this difficult time is admirable and I for one are very grateful to them.
  • Last week I attended some virtual exercise classes using Zoom! I did Pilates for the first time, yoga twice and S&C twice. I aim to join in with them all again this week. It was lovely to have something to look forward to each day. Thank you to Fitmums for putting the schedule together
  • Thank you so much for this mornings session, so easy to follow and friendly which is just what is needed in these strange times. Really felt uplifted after the session with all my fitmums friends/family.
  • Hi,I would just like to thank everyone concerned for their hard work with this. My sister and I (same house) have so far done one Pilates and one yoga class and intend to do the same this week. Whilst we enjoyed the exercise, the best part by far is the feeling of being connected with others. It’s lovely to see familiar faces when logging in. I found it easy to put the app on my iPad and to operate the system. Thanks again

As we start to come out of Lockdown 3 and restrictions are easing, our sessions have now ended, we hope you enjoyed them as much as we did. Special thanks go to our fantastic virtual team, Emma Heald, Claire Law and Neil Thompson, we couldn't have put on these sessions without you. A big thank you to the team behind the virtual sessions too who pulled a plan together with little notice and ensured the timetable was planned in advance and adapted to ever changing times. Lastly a thank you to all of our members, your attendance, your support for each other and your continued support for Fitmums and Friends is so special and valued.
