FMJs & 10 to Teens - COVID-19 update

Posted 1st April 2021

Following England Athletics (EA) guidance, Fitmums & Friends Juniors and 10 to Teens sessions can reopen from the end of March.

After the Easter break, we will be running these sessions in Beverley and Hull:

  • Mondays, 4.30pm-5.30pm, Beverley Leisure Centre (indoors) – FMJs (ages 7 to 9)
  • Tuesdays, 5pm-6pm, St Mary’s College, Hull (outdoors)         – FMJs (ages 5 to 9)
  • Tuesdays, 6pm-7.15pm, St Mary’s College, Hull (outdoors)     – 10 to Teens (ages 10 to 17)

This half-term’s sessions will begin on Monday 12 April and Tuesday 13 April, and will run until Monday 24 May and Tuesday 25 May respectively – there will be no session at Beverley on Bank Holiday Monday 3 May.

Our Juniors and 10 to Teens sessions are active and fun. They include, among other things, drills, running techniques, body weight exercises, relays and games, all designed to help our junior athletes to enjoy being active while developing their athletics skills.

As ever, our sessions are open to all abilities and fitness levels, so please don’t worry if fitness has suffered during lockdown – it has for many people and we fully appreciate this.

Keeping our junior athletes safe

In order to comply with current guidance and keep our junior athletes as safe as possible, activities will be chosen and organised in a way that ensures athletes will be able to socially distance from each other and from the coaching team. Face coverings must be worn on arrival by adults and children aged 11+, but will not be used when active. Any equipment will be used in line with EA guidance. Group size will be a maximum of 12 athletes to one coach and we will be using a booking system to ensure we adhere to this ratio – more about this below.

In addition, we need all junior members and their parents/guardians to agree to our Juniors COVID-19 Code of Conduct. Please read this carefully here before attending a session. By attending a session, you are agreeing to abide by this code of conduct.

How to book

To book a place, please email Gemma on gemma@fitmums.org.uk, ideally before Friday 9 April if possible. Once your place is confirmed by email, payment in advance of the full half-term fee (at £2 per session) will be required – payment details will be provided in your confirmation email. Places are open to current and new members – if you need to renew or purchase a new membership, please follow the steps below.

Membership

Junior membership remains at £11 for the membership year (to 31 March 2022).

If you need to renew your child’s/children’s membership, please log into your account here and follow the instructions on screen. Please do NOT join as a “new membership”. If you do this, your child’s/children’s details will be duplicated in our system and this can cause issues for scanning into sessions among other things.

If your child has not been a Fitmums & Friends member before, please join him/her as a new member – click here and follow the instructions on screen.

If you have any issues processing membership online, please get in touch and we can help you.

If you have any questions about our junior athletics sessions, please contact Gemma on gemma@fitmums.org.uk.
