From Thursday 1 October, we have a new autumn timetable for our virtual activity sessions. Now that all of our adult running, fitness walking and cycling clubs are open, we are offering one session a week of fitness, pilates, yoga and family fitness.
The sessions will be delivered live via Zoom, and streamed to Facebook Live either during the session or soon after, then later uploaded to YouTube as an unlisted item (private video, only viewable by link). This means you can replay the sessions at a time to suit you if you cannot join them live – more about that below. Each session combines the workout and a chance to connect with other members, all in the comfort of your home. The sessions are led by our trained and qualified coaches and instructors, and will continue to at least the end of the year.
The sessions on offer are:
Find out more about the benefits of these sessions and how they can support your running, walking and cycling here.
To access the sessions, you need to join our private “Virtual Sessions” Facebook group – every Sunday, we post the Zoom links and passwords required to access each session in this group. If you are not a Facebook user, please email Vickie on email@example.com to ask to receive the weekly list by email.
If you don’t like the idea of appearing on screen or you don’t want to appear in the recorded versions, you can choose to disable the video feature. You will still be able to see and hear the coach, but only your name will appear on the screen instead of your picture. If you need guidance on how to use Zoom, please read our step-by-step guide here.
If you are not a current Fitmums & Friends member and would like to access these sessions, then our virtual membership is perfect for you. A one-off payment of £21 will give you access to all our virtual activity sessions. Top-up to full membership is available for anyone local to a Fitmums & Friends club who wants to attend club sessions at a later date.
To join as a virtual member, please register on our website. Visit https://fitmums.org.uk/register and fill in your details. For “Membership type”, choose “Senior (second club)” and you will see the cost appear as £21 per year. For “Primary club name”, please enter “virtual sessions”.
If you have any queries, please contact Vickie on firstname.lastname@example.org
As ever, please work at your own level during the virtual sessions – the coaches will give different options to work at, so please pick what is right for you. Unlike face-to-face sessions, coaches cannot check personal health status. We therefore recommend that these sessions are suitable for people in good physical condition who feel able to participate in the sessions. We strongly recommend that you consult with a health professional before beginning any exercise programme if this is a new activity.
