We welcome applications to join a dynamic and supportive team delivering programmes as part of a new child bereavement project.
ROLE: Bereavement Support Facilitator
PAY: £30 per hour (20 hours per programme, 5 programmes in total)
DAY/TIME: 4 consecutive Saturdays per programme
These programmes will start in November 21 and run through to summer 2022
We are delighted to have received a grant from the Ideas Fund to develop a project to support children experiencing bereavement.
The Ideas Fund is a new grants scheme, run by the British Science Association and funded by the Wellcome Trust, that enables the UK public to develop and try out ideas that address problems related to mental wellbeing through collaborating with professional researchers.
This new innovative project will offer alternative bereavement support for children and young people (10-17 years) based in a Forest School setting. The project collaborates with the Humber Forest School and a University of Hull research team led by Dr Richard Meek. We are seeking applicants to join this team in the role of Bereavement Support Facilitators.
Forest activities include den building, camp fire cooking, tool making, tree climbing, and rope work. These provide a perfect focus for children who may find a traditional group discussion intimidating. Age-appropriate writing activities will also be part of the programme delivered by the research team. This may involve the participants reading existing literary texts or developing their own, in order to help them explore their loss. The Bereavement Support Facilitators will manage bereavement discussions throughout the programme and ensure appropriate therapeutic support.
If you are interested please see the Role Description for further details.
Closing date: 29th October 2021.
