Nervous about attending? We can help!

Thinking of coming along for the first time?

We understand that it can be daunting going along to a new activity for the first time - but don't worry we can help!

Fitmums and Friends is for anyone, male or female, aged 16+, and support is available if you feel you need an extra helping hand to become more active. You might be new to exercise, maybe you have lost your mojo and need a hand to find it again or just nervous about going somewhere new!

All sessions are designed to support all abilities so we can guarantee that you will fit. We even have a saying "Everyone fits at Fitmums and Friends"! This is because we use systems like shepherding to make sure everyone can run/walk in the same group but at their own pace, without the fear of being left behind. We have multiple options at our run sessions to fit with all abilities - choose from 1,2,3,4,5 or 6 miles.

Look for the welcome paddle

When you arrive at your first Fitmums and Friends session, look out for the welcome paddle! It is at the front of every venue and the person holding it will explain everything you need to know, answer any questions and make you feel very welcome!

Struggling in other ways?

Maybe you are thinking of attending one of our activity specialist activity programmes; bereavement, menopause, sightloss, breast cancer for example. We understand how anxious and vulnerable you may feel so please don't hesitate to tell us - we will understand if you need a little extra support in order to attend.

Before your first session

We would be happy to help you by:

  • having a chat with one of our volunteers, to help put you at ease before you attend a session - we can do this either by phone, text, email, Zoom, Teams etc.
  • arranging to meet you outside the venue so that you have someone to walk in with that first time.

We truly understand how hard to can be to get started - so let us help you to make those first vital steps. You won't regret it.

You just need to get in touch!
