Fitmums & Friends are pleased to announce their ongoing coaching support for HIMA, the Hull Indian Malayalee Association.
Since February, Fitmums & Friends have been working with HIMA through a regular athlete development coaching programme. Athletes of all ages have been attending coached sessions at Costello Stadium in Hull, developing their skills and fitness in preparation for competition.
The HIMA community recently took part in the Union of UK Malayalee Associations (UUKMA) Yorkshire and Humber Regional Athletics Sports Meet, held at Dorothy Hyman Stadium in Cudworth, Barnsley, on Saturday 23 May 2026. The event brought together 13 Malayalee associations from across the Yorkshire and Humber region.
Boby, a member of the Hull Indian Malayalee Association, said:
"The Regional Sports Meet is a great opportunity for people to see friends that they may not have seen for a long time. We all come together as one big community."
The event provided a fantastic opportunity for communities to come together, socialise, and compete in a wide range of activities, including broad jump, long jump, tug of war, shot put, and running races over 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, and 800m.
Fitmums & Friends Lead Coach, Barrie Cracknell, said:
"It has been really exciting to see the improvements from the HIMA athletes as they have progressed through training. It was a real pleasure to be invited to see them win the regional competition in Cudworth."
The athletes winning a1st, 2nd or 3rd place from the regional competition will now progress to the UUKMA National Athletics Competition in Birmingham on 20 June 2026, where they will compete against athletes from across the UK.
Fitmums & Friends will continue to provide coaching support for HIMA in the lead-up to the national event and look forward to seeing their athletes build on their recent success winning the Regional Champions Cup.
