National Cross Country Relays (Mansfield) - fancy joining the team?

Posted 14th September 2026

Each year we get teams together for an exciting national event - The Cross Country Relays which take place in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Clubs from all over the country attend this event, with some of our top British runners taking part too. We have managed to put out teams every year for many years and we would love to do the same again this year.  It is a great opportunity to meet members from other clubs and to represent Fitmums and Friends as a team.

The event is on Saturday 31st October 2026 at Berry Hill Park, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, NG18 4JR.

We are looking for a Senior Ladies team consisting of 3 women and a Senior Men’s team consisting of 4 men - we can have more than one team for each. The course is generally muddy – and definitely hilly! But a good challenge!

The Senior Ladies run a 3k lap which is mile is 1.86 miles and the time of the event is 1.50pm.

The Senior Men event is a 5k lap which is 3.1 miles, and the time of the event is 2.40pm.

As you are representing the Club, Fitmums and Friends pay most of the entry fee but we request a £5.00 contribution from yourselves if you would like to take part , Participants will need to be affiliated with England Athletics to be able to compete. We can organise this for you – it costs £17 but you get discounted entry on other races too.

You will need to make your own way to the venue but car sharing is an option. If transport is a barrier please let us know.

The club kit that you will need to wear when competing is plain black shorts or leggings and pink Fitmums and Friends top without your name on it. If you do not have a top without your name on it, we do have spares in the office that we can lend for the day please let us know if you would require one.

You will need to bring food and drink with you on the day, there is a burger van that will be there, you will also need warm clothing, pins for your number and a camping chair as we are just in a field. Trail shoes or cross-country spikes maybe also be required depending on the weather.

To give you a sense of the level of competition at this event the time the last competitor achieved last year was for the women’ s race 44 minutes and was 28 mins for the men race.

If you are interested in competing at this event or require any more details, please email ally@fitmums.org.uk with your name date of birth and your England Athletics affiliation number.

Please email before Friday 2nd October as I need to get the entries in before the closing date.
