The AJ Bell Great North Run is the world’s biggest and best half marathon, with 60,000 runners taking on the 13.1 mile route from Newcastle to South Shields each year. It’s famous for its inclusive atmosphere, unbeatable on-route entertainment, and warm Geordie welcome, not to mention the millions raised each year for worthy causes.

Fitmums & Friends has five charity places in this year’s event on Sunday 8 September 2024. The cost of a Fitmums & Friends charity place is just £25 and we are asking you to fundraise a minimum of £300 for Fitmums & Friends.

The Great North Run is a run for everyone, of all ages and abilities, so why not give it a go?! If you’ve not run a half marathon before, don’t worry – our Fitmums & Friends coaches can help you with a training plan. You will have plenty of time to prepare and plenty of support!

Please note some small print:

Eligibility: the ballot is open to all Fitmums & Friends senior, full (first-claim) members who have been a member since 31 December 2023 or earlier.

Costs: as a charity, we need to cover the cost of purchasing the charity places. If you win an entry, you are committing to pay Fitmums & Friends the £25.00 sign-up fee plus a minimum of £300.00 funds raised for the charity. If you are unable to continue to participate at any point (due to injury, illness, etc.), you are committing to pay Fitmums & Friends £90.00 in costs, including the £25.00 sign-up fee.

Kit: winners will be expected to wear a Fitmums & Friends running top on race day. If you do not have one already, these can be purchased in our online shop.

Media: winners will be expected to agree to some social media coverage, including photographs, on Fitmums & Friends' social media pages in the lead up to and on race day.
