Summer boot camps and buggy walks

Posted 22nd July 2021

Good news - we will be running our (buggy) boot camp and buggy fitness walk on most weeks during the summer holidays:

Boot camp will take place on:

  • Wednesday 28 July
  • (No sessions for 2 weeks)
  • Wednesdays 18 & 25 August
  • Wednesdays 1 & 8 September, then every Wednesday during term time

Boot camp is a 60-minute circuit session that uses cardio, toning and resistance work to help you feel fitter and stronger. The workout can be adjusted to suit all abilities and fitness levels so everyone is welcome. If you are looking after little one(s), you can work out with your babe or preschooler at your side, so no need to arrange childcare.

Boot camp takes place at 09.30am on a Wednesday morning at Cottingham Sports Centre (KGV Playing Fields, Northgate, Cottingham, HU16 5QW). Sessions are inside and/or out depending on the weather and cost £3.00 for non-members or £1.50 for Fitmums & Friends members (children are free). No need to book - just turn up.

Buggy fitness walk will take place on:

  • Thursday 29 July
  • Thursdays 5, 12, 19 & 26 August
  • (No session on 2 September)
  • Every Thursday during term time from 9 September

Buggy fitness walks offer a walking workout for adults with little one(s) in a buggy, or for anyone who just wants a walking workout (no buggy & child required!). They are usually 2 or 3 miles (less if necessary) and are suitable for people of all ages and abilities, including pregnant women. Buggy walks can help increase fitness, tone muscle, burn fat and improve posture.

Buggy walks take place at 09.30am on a Thursday morning in East Park (Holderness Rd, Hull, HU8 8JU), meeting outside the Pavilion Café. Walks cost £1.50 for non-members, free for Fitmums & Friends members (children are free). No need to book - just turn up.

Covid restrictions lifted

As most Covid restrictions have now been lifted, we no longer need to have any of our own restrictions in place at sessions.

You are no longer required to bring a face covering to a walk or boot camp, but if you feel more comfortable bringing and/or wearing a face covering during a session, you are of course welcome to do so.

It is nevertheless important that we all continue to take responsibility for keeping each other safe. So if you test positive or are contacted by NHS Test and Trace, please do not attend a walk or boot camp until the end of your self-isolation period.

If you have any questions about boot camp or buggy walks, or would just like to get in touch before coming along to a session, please email Gemma on gemma@fitmums.org.uk.

We look forward to seeing you at a buggy session soon!
