We are recruiting - CLUB LIAISON LEADS

Posted 17th March 2022

Would you like to join a wonderful team of volunteers based in the central part of the charity specifically to be a Club Liaison Lead?

About the role

This role, introduced about 4 years ago, acts as a key link between the central charity and the local club. The role offers an extra level of support to the volunteer organisers of local clubs . The aim is to help clubs work within the parameters of Fitmums and Friends guidelines, ensure that the strong principles & ethos of support are maintained and generally assist our invaluable volunteers doing great work in clubs.

Due to the success of the role, and the expansion of the charity with further clubs developing, we would love more Club Liaison Leads to help provide this essential support role.

The Club Liaison Lead is a volunteer role and sits within the central team. You would be joining a dynamic group of lovely volunteers who work hard behind the scenes to support all the activities and clubs that fall under the umbrella of Fitmums & Friends. The existing team of Club Liaison Leads work together across all clubs, supporting each other in the role they have. The team meet to review overall club developments and share and spread good practise.

We use a cluster model which means we utilise the rich experiences of volunteers in the work they do supporting individuals to reap the benefits of supported activity. This means Club Liaison Leads work together to host Club Cluster meetings that support ongoing development.

The work is flexible, and much of it can be carried out remotely. However face to face visits are essential in the early days to get to know the teams involved, but once relationships are established current experience suggests the role requires around 12 hours per month. This includes face to face visits to allocated clubs, virtual meetings with clubs as needed, meet ups with Club Liaison team to share experiences, and update time with the Liaison Co-ordinator who supports the Club Liaison Team.

Allocation to a club is determined by vacancy for a Club Liaison Lead, & the preference of an individual to be able to get to and support a particular club.

We welcome expressions of interest from members across the whole Fitmums and Friends patch not just from within the Humber area.

Current clubs are: Beverley, Boothferry, Cottingham, Dearne Valley (South Yorks), East Hull, Goole, Grimsby, Harrogate, Hedon, Market Weighton, York. Howden,  Pocklington & Brough are currently in development with Bridlington coming up next.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for people with excellent communication, problem solving & negotiation skills. Prior experience of managing people is essential. We need people who understand the principles of Fitmums and Friends (or are willing to learn) and who are passionate about ensuring quality and the attention to detail that this requires. This may sometimes require the need for resolving difficult situations, whilst having sensitivity in supporting volunteers. We are looking for people who are team players able to function as a part of the central administration team as well as with the Clubs they are tasked to support.

The main office base is currently on Greenwood Avenue, Hull and space is available here if needed. Catch up via remote means is perfectly acceptable.

Travel expenses are paid for all travel undertaken within the role.

Complimentary kit is provided.

Full training and mentoring is available so even if you a little bit interested, but not completely sure we’d love to chat to you.
