UPDATED August 2024

Thanks to a wonderful team of volunteer coaches, Fitmums & Friends is able to offer a programme of cross country and track training sessions through 2024.

These sessions are suitable for EVERYONE: steady runners, speedy runners, 1-mile runners, 6+ mile runners, fitness walkers and Nordic walkers. Because our coaches can adapt session plans to meet the needs and abilities of those attending so that everyone works at their own pace and level.

Both of these sessions will add great variety to your training, helping to build strength as well as fitness. They are included in your membership and are open to members aged 16+.

Most of these sessions take place at the weekends - please see below for the dates.

In addition, some of the usual weekly coached sessions facilitated by Cottingham Fitmums & Friends on a Monday evening are relocating to the Westwood too - these dates are also below. You can see all the options for the weekly Monday night coached sessions (hill/speed) in Cottingham HERE.

As well as these (mainly weekend) sessions, many clubs also host Grass Track training sessions in the Spring/Summer season. You can see the dates for these here.

Session dates - September to December

Track Sessions at Costello Stadium, 10.00am-11.00am with Coach Barrie

  • Saturday 14 September - track entry is free this month
  • Saturday 5 October
  • Saturday 16 November
  • no session in December

XC Sessions on Beverley Westwood

  • Monday 9 September, 6.45pm
  • Sunday 22 September, 10.30am
  • Sunday 13 October, 10.30am
  • Sunday 17 November, 10.30am

Track Sessions - these take place at Costello Stadium in Hull. You need to pay track entry on reception. Parking and toilets available.

Cross Country Sessions - these take place on Beverley Westwood. Park opposite the race course (on-road parking). Coaches will wait here until everyone has arrived and then move further onto the Westwood in a variety of locations to host the session. If you arrive late, they will be there somewhere but you may need to look for them! Please be aware that there are no toilet facilities for these sessions. Off-road shoes can be useful depending on the terrain but in dry conditions normal trainers will be fine.

Please note sessions on the Westwood may be cancelled if the ground is waterlogged or other adverse weather conditions. In this case, we will post a message on Facebook; for those not able to see this, please check with your Club Co-ordinator if you are unsure if a session will take place.
